How to Start QuakeWorld in Your Browser

Pieter’s Quake browser project offers multiplayer QuakeWorld in a web browser. Launch the game above, enter a player name in its window, and select Play. You can also use the original q1.pieter.com entry. Allow the game resources to finish loading before trying to move.

  1. Choose a player name. It will identify you in the multiplayer session. Avoid putting personal information in it.
  2. Enter the arena. Click inside the game to give it keyboard and mouse focus.
  3. Learn the map. Get comfortable moving and turning before worrying about score. Match conditions depend on the current server and other players.

QuakeWorld Controls

Check the game’s input settings for movement, jump, attack, and weapon bindings. The browser needs focus inside the game for keyboard input, while mouse look can capture the pointer. Esc returns control to the menu or releases the pointer.

The launcher does not replace the game’s own settings. If a key behaves differently from another Quake port, use the bindings shown by this project rather than assuming every version has identical defaults.

Requirements and Available Modes

Use a desktop browser, keyboard, and mouse for this collection’s QuakeWorld entry. Keep a stable connection for multiplayer. The original project describes low-latency deathmatch and up to eight players; the number actually online changes.

If the game opens but input does not respond, click the game area once. If the whole page stays blank, compare the original site and follow the loading and graphics checks.

Which Quake Version Is This?

This is Pieter’s unofficial QuakeWorld preservation project, powered by FTE QuakeWorld. It is a multiplayer browser project, not Quake III and not a promise of every retail Quake campaign.

The source identifies itself as non-commercial and unaffiliated with id Software. Visit the original QuakeWorld browser project for its current notices and other classic game links.
